Among the 15 Newly Industrialised Countries (NIC) analysed,
the Philippines are ranked No. 12 with regard to the General Innovation Index (GII) and No. 11 with regard to the Sustainability Index (SusI). The Philippines are also specialising on sustainability technologies with regard to publications.
Please view the methods sheet for more detailed information about the indicators and their calculation.
The world shares of Philippines in sustainability relevant publications, patents and exports are given in table 1.
Among the 15 Newly Industrialised Countries analysed,
the Philippines ranks third with regard to skilled labour. It is ranked between No. 8 and 11 for the four other indicators which enter the GII.
Concerning the environmental and social aspects that are used for the SusI index, the Philippines is at position 12 with regard to both social and environmental aspects.
